Slow and soft music is okay, but please do not play loud music. You are in the middle of nature and a village.

Services of the staff are available until 10:00 pm
We follow a strict no-smoking policy inside the house. You may ask the caretaker for an ashtray and smoke outside the house if you need to.
Follow local customs and traditions while interacting with villagers. Support community-based tourism initiatives by engaging with local artisans/handicraftsman, businesses, temples and nature.

Wifi and Connectivity:
There is a good 4G connectivity for Airtel and Jio users, unless the weather is bad. Anyone who needs dedicated connection should carry an Airtel/Jio Sim and it works very good. We don’t have WiFi connection facility.
Cancellation Policy:
45 – 30 days prior to check-in date – 50 % of full amount would be charged as retention
31 – 16 days prior to check-in date – 75 % of full amount would be charged as retention
15 Days prior to check-in date – 100% of full amount would be charged as retention.

Bookings made for long weekends, festivals and blackout periods (sold-out dates, special festivals, Christmas & New Year) are non-refundable and non-changeable.

Getting There:
By Road:
The stay is approachable from various parts of North India, like 5 hours’ drive from Chandigarh via Mandi route, 10 hours’ drive from Delhi via Mandi route and just 2 hours’ drive from the Dharmshala Bus Stand. Please note Musafir Cottage is 15 km from the Palampur town.
By Train
The nearest railway station is Pathankot Railway Station which is 140 km away. The journey takes around 4hours by road. Regular taxis and buses are available from the station to the stay.
By Air
We’re easily accessible from Dharamshala Airport (65 km) and Amritsar Airport (225 km).

We will share the exact directions upon confirmation. We have pickup, drop facility from the Airport/Railway Station, which are chargeable additionally.
We also offer accommodation for the drivers at the property at an additional cost. Please inform us at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

The Stay:

The Musafir Cottage is part of a huge estate consisting of farmlands, 4 cottages, common dining and lounging space and vegetable gardens. It has a common area where all the meals are served. The mini library and board games will keep you entertained. A high tea experience overlooking the expansive Kangra valley, bonfire evenings and live music will definitely leave you spell bound. The rooms are simple, tasteful, elegant and stocked with basic amenities. lower laden and kitchen gardens all around with uninterrupted views of the dhauladhar mountain range. The sounds of nature and hammocks placed perfectly will transport you into another world. Musafir is surrounded by pine jungles, and the bay windows provide a fantastic space to read while sipping on your coffee and watching the sunrise from the mighty Dhauladhar range. There’s a studio as well and artistic touch is all over the stay, making it really different from all others in the region.

The names of every cottage at Musafir Cottage have been borrowed from the Silk Route, the ancient trade route that links China to the Mediterranean. A perfect weekend getaway to rejuvenate and calm your senses, Musafir Cottage is the only commercial property built inside the pine forest area at Palampur. The personalized, handwritten welcome messages from the owner inside both the cottages left an excellent first impression about the host. The owner has reused old crockery from his mom’s kitchen to recreate art. Every bell in the passageway can be used for communication with the kitchen staff; you don’t require an intercom! The owner has constructed a greenhouse using polycarbonate plastic, near the cottages, where he grows vegetables and fruits that are even out of season. Try their Rhododendron juice, homemade pickles, and clay oven bread served with local cuisines and farm fresh organic green salad served with exclusive flavored salt made of mountain basil! From walking through farm to tasting food straight from nature, every activity is designed to reconnect you with a life we often forget to live.

To See:
Chowgan Tea Garden: Walk through the tea gardens and enjoy the breathtaking scenery. It is beautiful to see women laborers plucking fresh tea leaves from all these estates while carrying baskets and children on their backs.
Sherabling Monastery: It comprises large buildings and stupas partially hidden by pine forests and colorful festoons on the sides of the road. You may hear monks chanting mantras in the prayer hall, creating a spiritual atmosphere.
Gunehar Waterfall: The beautiful Gunehar waterfall is a prime attraction from the Guenhar village, tucked between the mountains. Located at 100 ft., you can reach the gorgeous Gunehar waterfall through a short trek from the town. The waterfall is popular among tourists and photography buffs for its crystal-clear waters against majestic mountain views.
Baijnath Temple: Baijnath Temple is a Nagara-style Hindu temple that houses the ‘God of Healing,’ Lord Shiva.
