Slow and soft music is okay, but please do not play loud music. You are in the middle of nature and a village.

Services of the staff are available until 10:00 pm
We follow a strict no-smoking policy inside the house. You may ask the caretaker for an ashtray and smoke outside the house if you need to.
Follow local customs and traditions while interacting with villagers. Support community-based tourism initiatives by engaging with local artisans/handicraftsman, businesses, temples and nature.

Wifi and Connectivity:
There is a good 4G connectivity for Airtel and Jio users, unless the weather is bad. Anyone who needs dedicated connection should carry an Airtel/Jio Sim and it works very good. We don’t have WiFi connection facility.
Cancellation Policy:
45 – 30 days prior to check-in date – 50 % of full amount would be charged as retention
31 – 16 days prior to check-in date – 75 % of full amount would be charged as retention
15 Days prior to check-in date – 100% of full amount would be charged as retention.

Bookings made for long weekends, festivals and blackout periods (sold-out dates, special festivals, Christmas & New Year) are non-refundable and non-changeable.

Getting There:
By Road:
If you’re driving, we’re located 450km from Delhi, 200Kms from Chandigarh, 200Kms from Manali via the Jalori Pass, 88Kms from Jibhi, 44Kms from Rampur and 85Kms from Shimla.
By Train
If you prefer train travel, you can take the scenic narrow gauge train from Kalka to Shimla. This route offers dramatic views of the hills and is a unique experience in itself. From Shimla, we can help hire a taxi to bring you up to Saroga Woods.
By Air
If you’re flying in, the nearest airports are Shimla (SLV) at 96Kms or Chandigarh (IXC) at 200Kms.

We will share the exact directions upon confirmation. We have pickup, drop facility from the Airport/Railway Station, which are chargeable additionally.
We also offer accommodation for the drivers at the property at an additional cost. Please inform us at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

The Stay:

Narkanda, Thanedar, Kotgarh, and its surrounding areas make the “apple basket of India”. Conveniently located just 20Kms from Narkanda and 85Kms ahead of Shimla, the picturesque stay – Saroga Woods at 8,000ft offers uninterrupted views of the majestic Himalayas, the sparkling Sutlej river and lush orchards around the house. The two guestrooms are very comfortable with fabulous views. Each room features a queen bed, en-suite bathroom, hot & cold AC, and bed warmers, with a sofa bed available for an extra guest. The common area is a great place to gather for conversations and the large terrace with its uninterrupted views of the snow-clad peaks and the bottle-green Sutlej sparkling in the valley below is superb for sundowners and barbeques. The stay features a large terrace with panoramic views of the Himalayas, the Sutlej river, and surrounding orchards—perfect for relaxing, reading, or sharing a quiet conversation.

To See:
Orchard Visit: Once you arrive, you’ll have plenty of activities to keep you busy. Learn about the history of India’s first red apples, planted here in the early 1900s. Take a stroll through one of the many orchards surrounding us or enjoy the view from our home.
Meadow Walk: A 45-minute walk south-east of the Hatu Mata temple at 11150ft will lead you to Jau Baug meadows. This is a good picnic spot for which we can pack you a picnic basket. Occasionally you can see cattle and horses grazing in the meadows.
Hatu Peak: If you’re up for more adventure, head to Hatu Peak, just 23Kms from Saroga Woods. At the area’s highest point at 11150ft there is the Hatu Mata Temple and the peak has a 360-degree view of the greater Himalayas.
Saroga Jungle Walk: You can also go for short and long treks on the Saroga Jungle Walk, following the road or taking one of the trails along the way. Depending on the season you are visiting us in, you can see cherry and apple blossoms, fruit-laden trees, or snow on your path.
Local Fairs: If you’re planning a visit in June, make sure not to miss the vibrant local fair that takes place around this time. This mela called the Shadau Jatar is dedicated to the local deity and will give you a glimpse of the Pahadi Devta culture. Other local fairs start from end April and continue till end November.
St. Mary’s Church: If you’re interested in history and architecture, head to St. Mary’s Church, Kotgarh, just 10Kms from Saroga Woods. This church was built in 1872 by the British and has beautiful stained glass panels, an old bell hidden in a bell tower, and an Urdu inscription hanging on the walls.
Tani Jubbar Lake: For a peaceful retreat, visit Tani Jubbar Lake, just 10Kms from Saroga Woods. This picturesque lake is surrounded by forests and the Nag Devta temple, making it a great place to relax and unwind. There is a café close by to the lake where you can hop over for a coffee or snacks.
